Local Landmark: Epiphany Episcopal Church

In 1862, Henry Kershaw, the Rector of Trinity Church in Upper Marlboro, set out to establish a mission. This created the first Episcopal chapel in Long Olds Fields. In 1871, the small chapel became an independent parish when a central part, the nave, was added to it. The Epiphany Episcopal Church saw many more additions throughout the years. In 1904, a three-level bell tower was added to the southeast corner of the church. In 1940, a cemetery was added to a section of the grassy lot the church sat on. In 1960, a parish hall (Canterbury Hall) was built on the west side of the church. This hall is used as an auditorium and banquet hall for special events. Epiphany Episcopal Church is now a historic church that serves the community of Forestville, MD. It's also a good representation of Gothic Revival ecclesiastical architecture.
