Baltimore National Cemetery

Back in the 1750s, the current Baltimore National Cemetery area was owned by Charles Carroll of Carrollton and the Baltimore Company. It was known as the Cloud-Capped estate. In 1890, Blanchard and Susan Randall acquired the land and later sold it to the federal government in 1936. On Dec. 22, 1936, the first interment took place. However, it wasn't until May 30, 1941, did the cemetery become formally dedicated. As of today, the Baltimore National Cemetery is located along Maryland Route 144, between the neighborhoods of Beechfield and Catonsville. The cemetery is a United States National Cemetery. In 2016, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
